New Affordable High-Performance Headphones from Sennheiser

January 26, 2005

New from Sennheiser are the HD 465 (shown right, $79.95) and HD 485 ($99.95) headphones, both of which are over-the-ear models similar to Sennheiser's well-regarded HD 600 and HD 650 models. The HD 465 and HD 485 both use a new version of Sennheiser’s dynamic driver design. Employing high-current aluminum voice-coils, both new models are said to deliver "superb clarity and remarkably wide-range performance" -- 16Hz-24kHz frequency response for HD 485, and 18Hz-21.5kHz for the HD 465. Both weigh 220 grams, and their ergonomic headband geometry and ultra-soft earpads should ensure comfort for long listening sessions. Both come with a snarl-resistant, detachable and replaceable single-sided cord.
